Our Ear Cropping has changed as our vet no longer crops we have found a local vet that crops but the cost will be             $450 - $500.

Ear Cropping

Ear Cropping is sometimes a controversial subject with Great Dane owners. You will talk to some people that believe that it is cruel and inhumane, but as a Great Dane breeder we think that Cropping a Danes ears makes them look more majestic and more like the Great Dane Breed. However we also think it is a personal decision that each owner should be able to make.

*** Things to know if you decide for us to crop your puppy’s ears:

·        The price for Ear Cropping is $450 - $500. This service is to be paid in advance before the surgery as well as the puppy has to be paid in full unless other arrangements have been made.

·        The Ear Cropping is performed by our licensed Veterinarians (Dr. Patrick Boland and Dr. Gerald Majors) they normally crop their ears between 8-11 weeks of age. However our vets NO LONGER CROP!!  We have found a local vet Dr. Hamlin (Corbin Animal Clinic) that will be doing our Crops...  He actually took over Dr Majors practice and Dr Majors is the one that taught him the ropes on cropping.  Cropping done after 12 weeks of age is associated with a lower success rate for the ears to stand.

·        The puppy is required to stay overnight at the Veterinary Clinic after the surgery. We don't mind keeping your puppy for a few extra days to ensure everything went well with the surgery, so pick up arrangements need to be made. Stitches normally come out 10-14 days after surgery, so you need to have an appointment arranged with your veterinarian to have them removed.

  ·        Deciding what style of crop you want. They are 2 different styles of Ear Cropping We offer  they are: Medium Pet Crop (Our Veterinarian tries to crop the puppy’s ears to match the size he thinks the puppies head will be. I think this looks very nice and it is easier to maintain after care.  Show Crop- (Is our personal favorite the show crop is just a longer taller crop. With the longer taller crop you increase your chances of the ears not to stand and may require longer tapping.) Our Veterinarians try to meet the buyers request on the style that they have chosen for their puppy.  However there are a lot of factors that the veterinarian has to consider before cropping the puppies ears. With that being said we truly trust our Vets capability of determining the best suitable crop for each individual puppy.

·        Taping can take anywhere from 6 months to a year depending on the puppy before their ears will stand properly. NOT ALL EARS are guaranteed to stand! Understand that it will be the buyers responsibly to find a Vet that will be willing to re-tape your puppy’s ears. We have been taping and posting our puppies for the last 4 yrs, so we sure don't mind showing our taping/posting methods along with our supplies!!

With any surgical procedure, there are risks involved with putting any animal under anesthesia.  There is No Guarantee on Ear Cropping, size, style or quality.  Before your puppy undergoes surgery it will receive a vet examination and blood work to ensure your puppy is healthy to and ready for surgery.  You the buyer understand that Twin Kennels (seller) will not be held responsible for any damage or loss that should be caused by choosing to have the puppies ears cropped. NO REFUNDS SORRY!!!  We have been using our Vet (London Veterinary Clinic) for well over 8 years now and they have cropped 10-15 puppies ears for us. We have had 100% success rate on the ears standing.
